Really wanting to make cupcakes with Nutella frosting… Gonna hunt for a Nutella frosting recipe!  Let me know if you know of a good one?

I’M A BRUIN :DDDD

I’M A BRUIN :DDDD

Sorry for the lack of updates guys…

I’ve been feeling distinctly uninspired by all of the models I’ve already made and I haven’t found any new ones…

Or hadn’t up until now!  I’m about to embark on my journey of my first model using PHiZZ units!  I’m excited C: Wish me luck!  I may try a massive torus… Like everyone else Dx

Yeah, random post is random.

30 unit sonobes.  I love making these!

Brocade.  Easy and fun :)

Anonymous asked: Good luck!

Thank you!

Hearing back from Cal, Columbia, Harvard, and Yale tomorrow… this is amazeballs for sure.

Tutorial: Little Turtle Module

Warning: EXTREMELY image heavy… I went overboard, didn’t I?

As per request, here is the tutorial for the Little Turtle module.  Let me know what you think!  (Too many images? Not enough? More explanation necessary? Etc.)  I can do more of these, if people want :D

1.  Start with a square piece of paper.

2. Fold it in half.

3. Open, then fold one corner into the center as shown, with the colored side on the bottom and blank on top.

4. Flip the paper over and fold the other three corners into the center.

5. Flip the paper over again.  Take the edge opposite the one with the colored flap and fold so that the edge touches the diagonal (there should be a crease there from before!).  While doing this, allow the back flap to be pulled out so that it is not creased… If that makes any sense.

6. Flip over and fold the colored flap over so that the white side is out.

7. Repeat step 5 on the other edge.  Your module should look like this.

8.  I’ve already folded the bottom right corner, but as shown in the top left, fold the edge to the center, allowing the back flap to remain unfolded again.

9.  You should be here.

10. Fold in half along the short axis of the figure so that the colored side is on the inside.

11.  Fold the free tip downwards.  Flip over and repeat.

12. Fold the left flap inwards, then tuck underneath.  Fold the right flap inwards, but leave free.  Repeat on the other side as well.

You’re done!  To assemble, insert flaps into slots.  There are tons of ways to put it together so try experimenting :)  To see my model, click here [x].  I hope this was helpful!

Also.  Should I put this under a cut or leave as is? Thoughts?

selimrefitrom asked: I couldn't find it. :-( Even if I could see how to make one module I could figure out the rest.

Ok!  I have a fairly busy rest of the week but I’ll try to get on that Saturday :)

selimrefitrom asked: It's cool, I don't really keep track either. I've been slowly working on a 12 unit box connected in a chain pattern. If you go to my tumblr tagged origami is what I've been working on. I've never made one like that though. Could you post some instructions?

Wow!  That’s so cool @___@  Which units are you using for the boxes  And hmm, my scanner is crazy and I can’t find instructions online, but perhaps you could.  It’s called the Little Turtle unit from Multidimensional Transformations by Tomoko Fuse.  Let me know if you can’t find it and I can try my hand at a tutorial!

selimrefitrom asked: Love the origami. How long does it take you to make a 30 unit piece?

Thank you!  Hm… Well, it depends on the model.  I tend not to keep track because I’ll often fold as I watch movies or something, but for something I’m used to, like sonobes, it takes a minute or less per unit.  The most recent thing I posted, the Little Turtle, took me far longer because it’s a more complicated unit and it was the first time I’d tried the model.  In terms of assembly, it totally varies.  Models like the sonobe are easy to put togther, while the Little Turtle took quite a while.  Sorry for the long winded and not very helpful answer!

Little Turtle, 30 unit assembly.  I made a tutorial!
